Xinit Systems Announce Pentium® IV and Xeon Rackmount solutions

Xinit Systems, the UK's first end-to-end Linux solutions vendor announced general availability of new 1U and 2U Intel® Pentium® IV and Intel® Xeon® server products. The new Sharq servers are designed to complement the highly popular, first generation, Pentium® III-based Sharq series servers from Xinit Systems. Sharq series servers are competitively priced 1U, 2U and 4U rackmountable servers powered by Linux© and designed for high-volume deployment in SME, xSP and corporate datacenters.

There are four new additions to the Sharq series, two based on Intel Pentium® IV processors for entry level processing such as web or file/print serving and two products based on the Intel® Xeon® processor for higher-end applications such as NAS, database serving and high-performance clustering. The two lower-end solutions based on Intel® Pentium® IV technology are the Sharq EVS104 and Sharq SVS104. These are 1U server solutions each with dual embedded Fast Ethernet ports, built-in video and support for up to 3GB of RAM. The EVS104 is an IDE-based system and support up to two hard disk drives for a total internal storage capacity of 320GB using the latest ATA-based storage products. The SVS104 has a built-in Ultra160 SCSI controller and supports two internal SCSI disk drives for a total capacity of 146GB.

The Sharq SPS124 is a follow up to the highly successful SPS120. The SPS124 offers an uprecedented level of performance, availability and expandibility for a 1U solution. It supports up to two Intel® Xeon® processors operating at 2.8GHz, up to 12GB of high-performance DDR SDRAM via six DIMM slots and up to four SCSI disk drives, with optional hot-swap capability, for a total internal capacity of over 290GB. The SPS124 also sports dual embedded Gigabit Ethernet ports as well as support for up to three PCI expansion cards such as additional networking or storage controllers. With the optional PCI RAID controller, the SPS124 offers multiple RAID levels with hot-swap drive capability.

In the 2U range, the SPS234 is a high-performance solution designed for applications that demand extreme levels of reliability, availability and scalability. The SPS234 supports dual Intel® Xeon® processors operating at 2.8GHz, up to 12GB of ECC DDR SDRAM, a total internal storage capacity of over 400GB and can scale to several terabytes via the optional external storage units. System expansion is possible via three available PCI slots which also support the new PCI-X interface. Networking is provided via two embedded Gigabit Ethernet ports with advanced networking features such as Adapter Fault Tolerance and Adaptive Load Balancing for the highest throughput. System availability can be guaranteed via optional redundant power supply and hot-swap RAID drive support.

The EVS104, SVS104, SPS124 and SPS234 all sport a built-in 24x CD-ROM drive as standard and can be upgraded to support DVD or CD-RW functionality. All Sharq servers come with console redirection capability as standard to facilitate remote out-of-band management.
