The SharqServ 234-G2 is a powerful all-purpose 2RU server with a mission to deliver excellent all-round performance, availability and scalability. With the 234- G2 there is a fine balance between processing capability, storage capacity and system I/O performance giving it the features required for general purpose infrastructure computing. Edge-of-the- network enterprise e-mail serving or workgroup file/print and database serving are some of the areas where the 234-G2 comes into its own. Driven by the factory-default Linux OS, the 234-G2 is delivered with a powerful tool chain of software applications necessary for providing a core set of computing services to users on a network.

The 234-G2 system architecture concentrates a significant amount of processing power, I/O throughput and storage scalability into a compact 2RU enclosure. With up to two Intel Xeon processors operating at a peak 3.2GHz , memory expansion capability to 16GB of ECC DDR SDRAM and a massive 876GB of internal storage, the 234-G2 delivers the right combination of capabilities for multi-role general purpose network serving. Flexible PCI expansion configurations mean the 234-G2 can be aligned to your preferred I/O requirements with up to six low-profile 64-bit PCI and PCI-X slots. The hot-swap-capable cooling subsystem and optional hot-swap redundant power subsystem guarantee resource availability.

The 234-G2 will take up two Intel® Xeon® processors running at 3.2GHz and scale to 16GB of high-performance ECC DDR SDRAM.

Scalability - the 234-G2 can scale with demand. It can be purchased with only a single processor and a minimal amount of RAM to deal with your current low processing requirements; and when it starts to get tasked significantly, simply throw in another processor and a couple more sticks of RAM and you are good to go. With three free PCI expansion slots to compliment the already wide array of embedded components, customers can upgrade to gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel and SCSI RAID. Other high-speed specialist networking components such as Myrinet are also supported.

Availability - time is money. So when your servers are down, you are losing money. The 234-G2 has support for hot-swap RAID, meaning that if a drive fails you do not need to power down the machine to replace it. This is especially important for mission critical enterprise applications such as a data store for an e-commerce system. Other availability features include support for Adaptive Fault Tolerance in the networking subsystem. AFT ensures that if the primary network interface fails, the secondary will take over automatically and transparently. The 234-G2 can be upgraded to dual power supplies, meaning that even a failure in a power supply will not interrupt data processing.
